Our youth sports programs are designed to build fundamental sports skills while emphasizing fun, sportsmanship, teamwork and develop self-esteem. We encourage healthy competition in a positive environment.
Recreational leagues for ages 6 – 18
All skill levels are welcome, and everybody plays! All participants get equal play and practice time.

All programs will accept registrations after the registration end date as long as there is room in the division and location desired by registrant. For availability after the registration end date, please contact us at info@nnsr.org.
*Program start and end dates are subject to change. Games cancelled due to weather will be rescheduled to the end of the season, which may push the end date out. Programs that have a lot of make-up games may cause the following program start date to be pushed out. We will try our best to keep the program schedule as is stated above.
**Late registrations incur an extra $10 fee.
Youth Hoops
Youth Hoops is our recreational basketball program designed for kids (K – MS) to have fun while learning sportsmanship, as well as basketball rules and skills. NNSR Youth Hoops is offered in the spring, summer, and fall every year. Our referees are dedicated to explaining fouls before announcing them, and concentrate on communicating rules to the players during game play. This program is for all levels of ability. Sessions run 8-weeks.
Season end dates are contingent upon weather closures. Games cancelled will be made up at the end of the session. Practices cancelled will be made up with in the session if time and field availability allow.

Kindergarten/1st Grade CO-ED
2nd/3rd Grade CO-ED
3rd/4th Grade CO-ED will be split into boy’s and girl’s divisions when registration allows.
5th/6th Grade CO-ED will be split into boy’s and girl’s divisions when registration allows.
Middle School will be split into boy's and girls divisions
When: League offered in Winter, Summer, and Fall. When registering for Summer, please select the division by the grade the kid is going into after break. Games and practices will be held two days a week Monday-Friday after 5:30pm for 50 minutes, no weekend games or practices. Teams and schedules are made no more than two weeks before the program start date. Schedules cannot be made early, since we need to have a good idea of how many kids we have in each division for each location.
Where: Sparks, South Reno, Northwest Reno, and North Valleys (fall & winter only).
Sparks Locations - Excel Christian School, Mendive Middle School, Sparks Middle School.
South Reno Locations - Depoali Middle School, Neil Road Recreation Center.
Northwest Reno Locations - Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center.

Cost: $105 per player. Includes jersey, Memory Mate photo, and participation award. Registrations received after the registration period has ended will be considered as long as there is room in the league. Late registrations + $10.

High School Hoops
For: High School kids grade 9 - 12

High School Hoops starts 4/9 and will end the week of 6/4. League end date is subject to change due to unforeseen cancellations, such as adverse weather conditions or facility issues.

Cost: $80 for individual registrations or $425 for team registrations. Cost includes jersey.

NFL Youth Flag Football
NNSR Youth Flag Football is an NFL Flag affiliated league played in Sparks, South Reno, Northwest Reno, and North Valleys. Youth Flag Football programs are offered in the Spring and Fall. The program is for children grades kindergarten through middle school, and teams are divided into age divisions. All divisions in our flag football program are co-ed.
Our youth flag football program is designed to develop and enhance players fundamental skills of passing, catching and defensive abilities in a safe and fun environment. Skills and game strategy are instructed by our volunteer coaches while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship. League policy is that everyone is equally engaged in games and practices. Everybody plays the same amount of time and has an equally important role on the team. Are you ready for some football?

Great Basin Naturalists Summer Exploration Camp
The regular weekly summer camp has been canceled. In its place is 'Camp-In-A-Box,' a new program that brings the fun of camp to your home. Each box includes 25 educational, STEAM lessons and 10 crafts. All materials to complete the activities are included in the box. Campers will receive an interactive camp journal, a Great Basin Naturalists t-shirt, a daily suggested schedule, supplemental staff videos to support campers during their lessons, and a parent guide which will help you navigate your child's camp week. Each box is $125. This program also replaces the teen summer opportunities at Galena Creek. Boxes are available for both youth and teens. You can register online to receive your boxes in the mail. Youth Backcountry Camps from Tahoe Rim Trail Association
Dates for ages 14 - 17 are July 27 - 30, 2020. For ages 12 - 14, it's August 11 - 14, 2020. This is real camping summer camp for kids. Staff leads kids into the wilderness to share the joy and rewarding challenge of backpacking and wilderness survival through four day backpacking adventures. Participants come away with a sense of responsibility for the outdoors and develop confidence as they overcome a variety of challenges. Summer Art, Design and Clay Camps for Kids at Nevada Museum of Art
Camps are in June, July and August, 2020. These are half-day art camps at the Nevada Museum of Art's E.L. Cord Museum School. Kids ages 7 and up (varies by camp) will enjoy experimenting with clay, ceramics, digital and other art mediums and meet new friends during these half-day camps. Camp Discovery at The Discovery Museum
June 8 through August 7, 2020. The Discovery (Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum) offers a series of summer camps for kids from Kindergarten through 7th grade. There are numerous themes and sessions for various age groups - grades K, 1 to 2, 3 to 4, and 5 to 7. You can view the schedule and sign up online for Camp Discovery sessions. Summer Outburst from Sparks Parks & Recreation
Sessions are from June to August, 2020. Summer Outburst is available to kids entering 1st through 4th grade and features fun-themed weeks with age appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, swimming, field trips, bowling, active games, Wild Island water slides and golf, skating, special guests and more. These activities are included in the registration fee. You can register online from the website or in person at the Recreation Office, 98 Richards Way in Sparks. SO2 Camp - This camp is for kids entering 5th and 6th grades. Sessions are at the Larry D. Johnson Community Center, 1200 12th Street. This camp has the same type of age-appropriate activities as Summer Outburst. More information about all Sparks youth programs is available from the 'Sparks Recreation Activity Guide.'
Camps for Kids from the City of Reno
Weekly sessions from June 8 through August 7, 2020. Reno's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services offers camps for kids with activities geared to kids ages 6 to 12.5 years. KIDS University at UNR
Pending dates are July 6 - 31, 2020. Kids University hosts a wide-range of youth camps during the summer and school breaks throughout the year. Choose from themed, weeklong camps designed to incorporate the academic STEAM components — science, technology, engineering, arts and math — with a healthy dose of fun. Camps are for kids grades 2 through 8. Camps are taught by certified teachers, graduate students and experts in their fields. Online registration features a full list of camps, dates, times and fees. 2020 Wolf Pack Sports Camps
July, 2020. Spring sports camps have been canceled. Choose from 11 camps in a variety of sports. Boys and girls of all ages and abilities are invited to join Wolf Pack coaches and players for full-day, half-day and overnight camps including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, volleyball and cheer. Each camp has its own information page on the Wolf Pack Camps website.
UNR College of Engineering Summer Camps
Edcamp Rocket City
4 virtual camps from July 6 - 31, 2020. In-person engineering camps have been canceled. Instead, they are offering virtual camp experiences throughout the month of July free of charge. Visit the website for specific dates and details about each camp. The age for this virtual camp will be 12 to 14. Online registration pending.
Great Basin Outdoor School Summer Break Day Camp
Three weekly sessions, June 15 - 19, June 22 - 26 and June 29 - July 3, 2020. Camps feature fun hands-on science, wildlife ecology, hiking, recycled art, and more. Takes place at the River School Farm in Reno, 7777 White Fir St. Cost is $205 for one child for one full week, with sibling discounts available. For kids aged 6 to 12. Student Stewards Summer Science Camp
Weekly camps run from June 8 through August 7, 2020, with a different theme each week. Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is sponsoring summer camps based at Idlewild Park in Reno. Camps are for kids 8 to 12 years old. Camps are STEAM based (stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and will incorporate all of these things at camp, including outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, experiments, games, crafts, all emphasizing fun. KidScape Productions Summer Camps
June 22 - 26 (tentative), June 29 - July 3, July 6 - 10, July 20 - 24, 2020. KidScape camps focus on acting, theater and improv comedy. The full play camps are for kids ages 6 to 17 and the long form improv camp is for ages 7 to 17. All conclude with a performance to showcase what was learned. Stranger Things Theater Camp
July 20 - 24, 2020. For students ages 9 to 15. Spend a week improving your acting skills with a unique creative twist. Explore fun and unusual ways of getting to 'The Upside Down' of theater. In addition to learning a traditional acting approach, we will incorporate improvisation, mask work, role and gender reversals, and other important techniques. At the end of the week, in lieu of inviting an audience, we will record the show so friends and family can see it. Camp Lotsafun
Week of July 6, 2020. Camp Lotsafun is operated by Amplify Life, a non-profit organization in Reno 'dedicated to providing recreational, therapeutic, and educational programs for children, teens, and adults with disabilities.' Camp Wasiu II with Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada
All camps canceled for 2020. Camp Wasiu II is a traditional residential camp located in Sierra City, CA in the Tahoe National Forest, serving girls entering 1st grade up through high school. Girls have the opportunity to participate in canoeing, standup paddleboard, arts & crafts, hiking, campfire, outdoor cooking, disc golf, swimming and other fun camp activities. Camp Mesa Rim
June 8 - August 7, 2020. Each weekly camp session runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Camps introduce young climbers (ages 7 to 13) to top roping, bouldering, yoga and other activities that build confidence. Under the guidance of experienced camp coaches, campers spend the day climbing and doing yoga. They'll learn how to tie knots, safety techniques, and how to belay other climbers. Camp Invention
June 15 - 19, July 13 - 17, July 20 - 24, 2020. Includes both virtual (at-home) and in-person camps. Children (K - 6th grade) are presented with fun, hands-on challenges that encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Camp invention is led by experienced local educators and new curriculum is introduced each year, inspired by the Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Sessions are at Hunsberger and Caughlin Ranch Elementary Schools in Reno, Edward W. Van Gorder Elementary School in Sparks and Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City. Weekly sessions from June 15 through August 21, 2020, plus a special week session August 24 - 28, 2020. For preschool children (ages 1 to 4) and those entering Kindergarten through 8th grade. Kids will experience quality science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) instruction on campus and distance learning. Lake Tahoe Music Camp
Canceled. June 28 - July 4, 2020. The 64th annual Lake Tahoe Music Camp invites 7th through 12th grade student musicians to participate in a week of music-making, workshops, performances, and fun like basketball, volleyball, swimming, kayaking and more. The overnight camp is held at the Nevada State 4-H Camp in Stateline, Nevada, on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Sessions are conducted by award-winning UNR faculty and regional educators, guest conductors, professional chamber and jazz musicians, and more. Summer Camps from Tahoe Expedition Academy
June 17 - August 16, 2020. Tahoe Expedition Academy offers adventure and academic summer day camps for kids in Truckee and on Lake Tahoe's north shore. Held in week-long sessions, the summer camps focus on a variety of topics, all with an outdoor focus. They are available for kids ages 4 to 15 and divided by age groups. Sugar Bowl Kids Summer Camps
July 13 - 17, July 20 - July 24 and July 27 - 31, 2020. Camp Sugar Bowl summer camps are an opportunity for school-aged children to engage in experiential learning, master outdoor sporting skills and gain a deeper understanding of the natural environment. Camps are tailored to specific age groups ranging in age from 4 to 15. Activities include hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, swimming, mountain biking, nature art, storytelling and yoga. Sierra Nevada Journeys Summer Camps
